I’m back from presenting at conferences in Ohio and Georgia. More soon about that but first the weekly news links.

Indiana is continuing public hearings on youth homelessness and is struggling to come up with solid numbers.

An arrest in Dallas resulted after police found a brazen ad actually offering someone underage for prostitution.

The safer injection site in Vancouver Canada can stay open for 6 more months. There’s lots of discomfort around the idea of offering a safe place for people to inject despite evidence that “drug addicts who used the program were more likely to enroll in detox programs, more likely to start methadone replacement programs and reduce their number of monthly visits to shoot up.”

Great news in Portland as the city has decided to not continue with the so-called “prostitution-free” and “drug-free” zones banning people who had been convicted of certain offenses from entering parts of the city - often the very places where people lived and social service agencies were located.

Lastly read about a serious report on the connection between violence and teen pregnancy. A lot to think about.
