I’m in Ohio for the 4th Annual Conference on Prostitution, Sex Work and the Commercial Sex Industry and here’s a few news links to read up on while I’m presenting here.

A federal trial is starting in California involving no less than 3 pimps who forced a 12 year old girl into prostitution on the streets of Sacramento, Los Angeles and Seattle.

In Seattle though police arrested a man as he was having sex with a teen believed to be involved in prostitution and charged him with rape once police determined the girl to be 15.

A San Diego community group has released a report detailing youth being sexually exploited and trafficked from San Diego to other places. Out of 200 homeless and runaway minors interviewed - 1 in 3 said they’d been sexually exploited and 2 in 5 of those who’d been exploited were trafficked as a part of that.

In Schenectady, New York a man was convicted of raping and pimping a girl who was 14 at the time.

Lastly, on a helpful note, a study found that a close circle of same sex friends can help teen girls reduce the escalation of dating violence and support decisions to move on when a dating partner gets abusive.
