Here are the updates in recent news this week.

A 13 year old girl who is alleged to have killed her father will be charged as a minor. The media has focused on the dirty house and mentioning as an afterthought her statement that he sexually abused her.

I noted a few weeks ago that physical evidence from an officer set to go on trial for raping a 16 year old girl he had arrested for prostitution was mysteriously “lost.” A new trial date for September has been set and Maryland State Police will now handle all evidence in cases where a Baltimore police officer is charged with a crime.

Missouri youth advocates are figuring out how to better reach homeless teens.

A 13 year old testified in court about the man who pimped her out when she was 12 and her experiences. The article details and defense attempts to portray her a liar. This is a good example of why youth don’t want to have a court case.

And lastly I found a great article written by high school youth advocating for comprehensive sex education in Texas schools.
