Usually I look through many news items to see which ones I’d like to highlight here every Wednesday. Maybe it’s the heat of summer but it’s a slow news week on issues impacting youth in the sex trade.

So I leave you with this little gem.

Singer R Kelly to be tried for child pornography (Chicago) Grammy Award-winning R&B singer R Kelly will go on trial Sept. 17 on child pornography charges, five years after the accusations were first made, prosecutors said on Wednesday. Kelly, 40, whose real name is Robert Kelly, faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl.

Everyone, especially teen girls on the South Side of Chicago, knew about R. Kelly’s interest in underage girls. We’ll see how far it goes in court.
