I’ll be presenting three new workshops in late September/early October.
The first two will be at the Fourth Annual National Conference on Prostitution, Sex Work, and the Commercial Sex Industry in Toledo, Ohio September 27-28, 2007 http://www.prostitutionconference.com/
“Doing the Right Thing: Ethics and Boundaries”: Working with adults and youth in the sex trade means knowing about and being in the middle of situations that test what we are willing to do. For outreach workers, peer mentors, volunteers, and anyone who doesn’t already have a code of ethics to follow, let’s talk about what to do in difficult situations.
“Why youth don’t stay in your program and how to change that” Do you wonder how to effectively engage youth who have life experience trading sex for money in your program? Learn why youth take off, fall away and refuse to participate. Find out the 10 best ways to attract and keep youth reaching their goals.
And right after I’ll be heading to Atlanta, Georgia to present at the It’s My Life Conference September 30 - October 3, 2007 bringing “together youth in foster care, alumni, caregivers, practitioners and advocates…to guide preparation for adulthood services for youth aging out of foster care” http://www.casey.org/Resources/Projects/ItsMyLife/
“Making a Difference in the Lives of Youth Trading Sex for Money”: Why do you think youth are involved in trading sex for money or survival needs? In this youth-centered workshop you’ll discover what pushes and pulls youth in and what you (especially youth!) can do to support youth to get the resources and help they need to make healthy decisions.
